The RIV-NAILTM power system has been developed to improve the installation of R-5
hinged rivet fasteners on newer, synthetic high strength belt fabrics. The hinged fastener is
manufactured with special tempered steel to form the beveled ends and yield a smooth low
profile when installed.
A design pattern for 5 RIV-NAILSTM allows for the fasteners to be clinched for maximum
pull out resistance as the pilot nails do not cut the fabric, but divide and allow the rivets to
slide between fill and warp yarns. The fastener is a compression fastener and as such does
not rely entirely on the belt fabric for resistance to fastener pull out.
Rivet Hinge Fasteners are available in the R-5 size which fits belts 7/32" - 7/16". The
fastener strip is cross-scored so it can easily be broken by hand to fit any belt width exactly.
R-5 fastener strips are packaged as one set per carton. Hinge pin and RIV-NAILTM selection
is according to belt thickness and style. These are sold seperately.

Installation of RIV-NAILTM hinged fasteners is best accomplished with our unique pneumatic driver, application tool and guide template. However, the RNAT (RIV- NAILTM Application Tool) can be used with individual rivets and a hammer. The RNG-65 is a high powered, rugged gun that drives the RIV-NAILTM and clinches the rivet in ONE BLOW! Yet, this tool only weighs 5 lbs. RIV-NAILSTM used with the RNG-65 are collated 70 per coil. This is more than enough to complete one side of a 24" belt. Because rubber and PVC belts have resilient covers, it may be desirable to strike each rivet a second time to achieve maximum belt com- pression and rivet clinch. All work is completely vis- ible through the design of the RIV-NAILTM Guide Tem- plate. The RIV-NAILTM collated strip is fed indepen- dently of the driver, a unique feature that allows the in- staller to drive or clinch without unloading the tool. No hammer is required.
